The Nile made a world
Egypt’s civilization grew around the Nile’s fertile floodplain. The annual flood renewed farmland, while the river carried people, stone and goods. Upper Egypt lies to the south, upstream; Lower Egypt is the northern delta. The names describe the river, not the map.
